We are so excited to invite you to the 2024 Courage & Renewal Global Gathering — a time of reconnection and renewal, where we will be exploring and celebrating the powers and possibilities that exist within us and between us.

During this 3-day event, Courage & Renewal Facilitators from around the globe will enjoy time and spaciousness to reconnect with friends and colleagues, collaborate around best practices and ongoing formation, inspire and be inspired, and re-energize one another as we continue to carry Courage & Renewal forward in our lives and communities in the ways that are most meaningful to each of us.

Event & Registration Details

About the Global Gathering:

The 2024 Gathering will take place from October 17th at 4pm CT to October 20th at 12pm CT at the Madison Concourse Hotel in Madison, Wisconsin, USA.

As we consider the power and possibility “Within Us & Between Us,” we will:

  • Reconnect with colleagues, build new relationships, and re-energize our spirits
  • Explore ways to strengthen our community of practice
  • Be inspired by ways Courage & Renewal is impacting our global landscape
  • Collaborate around best practices and ongoing formation
  • Appreciate the gifts and resources of our multi-generational Collaboration
  • Learn more about the current strategy and direction of the Center for Courage & Renewal
  • Celebrate with a Global Gathering Gala, honoring Parker Palmer’s and our global community’s collective contributions to building the foundation for a more loving, healthy, and equitable world

Registration Fee:

Your event registration includes access to all conference sessions, a 3-night stay at The Concourse Hotel, breakfast,* lunch, dinner, and snacks throughout the event, as well as our Global Gathering Gala on Saturday evening.

  • Early Bird Registration (Save $200): The Early Bird registration fee is $980 per person for a double occupancy room or $1,280 per person for a single occupancy room. Early Bird registration will be available through June 30th.
  • Standard Registration: Standard registration will be available July 1st through September 10th. The Standard registration fee is $1,180 per person for a double occupancy room or $1,480 per person for a single occupancy room.

Payment Plans:

Registration requires at least a $150 deposit, after which you are free to pay the rest of your registration fee at a pace that makes sense for you. If you are on a payment plan, 50% of your payment needs to be completed by August 10th, and 100% of your payment completed by September 10th. The payment plan option will be available until August 10th.

Scholarships:

We are committed to doing all that we can to ensure financial barriers don’t stand in the way of participation. Partial scholarships for registration fees are available on a “first-come, first-considered” basis. If you are in need of a scholarship, you will be asked to pay a $150 deposit at the time of your registration to hold your spot. Your registration confirmation email will include a link to a scholarship application, which must be completed and submitted prior to consideration. We encourage those in need to apply for scholarships as soon as possible. We will make every effort to get back to you quickly so that you can continue making your arrangements. In the event that the financial assistance we can provide is insufficient to make your participation possible, we will offer a full refund of your initial deposit. Scholarship applications are due no later than June 1st.

Pre-Gathering Offerings:

Three different one-day Circle of Trust retreats will be offered in advance of the Global Gathering. These retreats are an optional “add-on” experience. Each retreat will start on Wednesday, October 16th at 4pm CT and end on Thursday, October 17th at 3pm CT. Alternatively, you can register for an Un-Session, which will offer additional spaciousness the day before the event for self-organized meetings, personal reflection, or connection.

The retreat names and facilitators are listed below, with links to further descriptions about each offering:

Pre-Gathering Retreat Fee (inclusive of all retreat sessions, one additional night’s stay at the hotel on October 16th, and three meals and snacks during the retreat): The additional early bird fee for a Pre-Gathering Retreat is $325 per person for a double occupancy room and $425 per person for a single occupancy room. Each of these rates will increase by $50 after June 30th.

Pre-Gathering Un-Session Fee (inclusive of one additional night’s stay at the hotel on October 16th, and three meals and snacks): The additional early bird fee for a Pre-Gathering Un-Session is $225 per person for a double occupancy room and $325 per person for a single occupancy room. Each of these rates will increase by $50 after June 30th.

Considerations On Scheduling, Costs, and Accessibility

Having heard from so many facilitators about how meaningful the Global Gathering has been for building a greater sense of connection and belonging within the Collaboration, we carefully considered a number of factors in planning for this event, including the timing, location, venue, and costs.

As we do with all of our events, we looked at the calendar closely to identify possible dates alongside venue availability, costs, accessibility, and other logistical considerations. While we made every effort to avoid as many known conflicts as possible, we are aware that these dates overlap with religious holidays, other conferences and events, and personal obligations which you may need to take into consideration when making your own plans.

Putting on an event like this requires significant resources, some of which are reflected in the registration fees. In the years since our last Global Gathering in 2017, a number of factors have contributed to changes in the retreat venue landscape that have resulted in increased costs for lodging, meals, meeting space, and technology. Our goal has been to do everything within our control to make our gathering as affordable and accessible as possible, while ensuring that the experience continues to be very meaningful for those who attend.

Limited Online Offering:

We are exploring options for creating limited online gathering spaces for those who choose not to attend onsite. We will have more information about this option prior to the onsite early bird registration deadline.
