From a very early age many people proclaim that they are not creative. This is based on a flawed understanding of what creativity is. In this weekend retreat we explore the concept that creativity is not the end result but the journey we take to get there. As Julian Stodd wrote “We are all creative; it’s in our DNA.” This Living Creatively Retreat is for those ready to consider a new understanding of creativity and provides an opportunity to reflect on the meaning, challenges and possibilities of living creatively.
This weekend retreat offers those who participate with:
- An opportunity to reflect on the concept of creativity
- A chance to contemplate creativity and ways in which it is currently being expressed in all aspects of life
- A context for careful listening and deep connection that honours diversity in personal experiences and perspectives
- A safe space in which to undertake deep personal reflection on these matters
- Opportunities to explore one’s natural gifts and how they might impact one’s creativity
- Time in which to explore potential opportunities to create
What to Expect
In this retreat, skilled facilitators help create a quiet, focused, and disciplined space—a circle of trust—in which the noise within us and around us can subside and we can begin to hear our own inner voice. In large group, small group, and solitary settings, we will explore creativity in our personal and professional lives, making use of stories from our own experiences and insights from poets, storytellers, and various wisdom traditions. The retreat includes an introduction to the Clearness Committee experience, where you learn to listen deeply and ask insightful, “open and honest” questions.
