Winters many gifts call to us; how can we listen? For example, see the edges of frozen ponds? They can seem unstable, dissuading many from venturing out where the ice is always more stable in the middle. How are we invited to venture past the slushy edges of our lives, our roles, and into the center of some new and perhaps more solid dimension of our selves, inspired by this season?
This 3 hour mini-retreat features the Circle of Trust® approach developed by Parker J. Palmer and the Center for Courage & Renewal. The Circle of Trust is a process of shared exploration that creates the space that is both safe and brave for personal reflection about the deeper questions of our lives.
How about inviting the noise around you and within you to subside enough for you to listen for what your life hopes to tell you?
Doors open at 9am for snacks and socializing. For those new to Circles of Trust or the Courage & Renewal approach, please arrive by 9:15 for a brief orientation.
Prior participation is not required – all are welcomed, including those with previous experience in the Courage & Renewal approach.
You can come to these mini-retreats as often as you like. Each intergenerational seasonal mini-retreat stands on its own with a fresh theme, rooted in the principles of the Circle of Trust approach.
REGISTRATION: Please contact Tony Vento firstname.lastname@example.org or call 216-313-0546. The space is limited to 15, and it has sometimes filled.
COST: Suggested donation is $25. Please do not let finances keep you from this experience.
Meet Your Facilitator
Tony Vento Courage & Renewal Facilitator, knows in his very soul the power of people coming together in respectful small circles, linked with other circles, for renewing and transforming ourselves, our workplaces, and our communities. He is grateful to those generous and wise teachers in high school, college and beyond who encouraged him to create such circles, seeing his gifts before he did. His favorite teachers include Mrs. Molder who not only created his first peer learning circles, but read aloud The Little Prince, and graciously welcomed her fourth graders to sing Let There Be Peace On Earth at her wedding. Tony loves all water sports especially whitewater kayaking – which, like much of his life, gathers circles of trusted people to share stories, chart paths, quiet fears and enjoy what can be created by making the most of lively currents. Embracing the wisdom invited by NE Ohio’s seasons has changed his life. More information about Tony’s professional work can be found at http://purposematters.org/about-tony. Over the past seven years, he has been introducing the practices and principles that ground Courage to Teach® in Northeast Ohio educational and community settings, including Case Western Reserve University, as well as the national Catholic Campus Ministers Association.
