“In a century of staggering open questions, hope becomes a calling for those of us who can hold it, for the sake of the world.” – Krista Tippet
This Circle of Trust retreat will invite participants to be curious alone and together about hope: what hope may be, what we hope for and how to hold hope for ourselves and the world.
Through individual reflection and through small and large group conversations, we practice ways of connecting with ourselves and generously holding the experiences, understanding and insights of others, to create a space for honest dialogue and non-judgmental listening.
Stories from our own lives and work, as well as insights from nature, art, music and poetry are used to awaken creative possibilities. The retreat offers time and place to pause and tune into our own wisdom, to (re)connect to what energises us, and gain clarity about current questions and future steps.
“Hope is patience with the lamp lit.” – Tertullian
Meet Your Facilitators
Noela Maletz, M Soc Sc BA Dip Ed, is an educator, psychotherapist and visual artist who also loves to write. More than thirty years ago she joined with others to establish a Waldorf School and then a Social Therapy Centre for people with disabilities, in Adelaide, and worked in both of these places. Most of her current work is in private practice, as a psychotherapist, and in growing Courage & Renewal work in South Australia. She is awed by the possibilities and necessities of a life lived as mindfully, wholeheartedly and as kindly as she can manage and challenged by remembering her many grandchildren’s birthdays.
Leanne Nearmy, M Soc Sc Couns, B Tch, Dip TAA is a counsellor, educator and Facilitator with the Centre for Courage and Renewal. Leanne has taught in all levels of education from Primary Schools through to TAFESA, and in staff professional development for over 25 years. She has also worked within the Community & Youth Sectors across Australia. She is currently on leave from her private counselling practice to grow vegies, nurture Courage and Renewal work in SA and survive her leadership role at TAFESA, which she will return to in early 2017.
About Our Venue
The Monastery Conference Center is a sweet spot for a retreat: it is close to centre of Adelaide and to airport, it has a beautiful sacred garden, it offers warm hospitality and accessible spaces. (need to know: bathroom facilities are shared.)
